A scary tales of 14th July

I was just pull to the right turn towards to exit of my housing area before I saw this huge shinning spot-light on the sky.
Wow! the moon so huge today!

It was the seventh month of the lunar calendar a.k.a the Ghost Month and you won't find many Chinese get on with a wedding on this particular month. Unless, they're Christian or they are really so desperate to get marry.
It was the month for those from the under world to celebrate.

Let me share with you a ghostly story of mine during a Ghost's Month when I was a kids. It was 14th July in the lunar calendar and it is believed that it was the night where all the ghost and spirit are release from the under world. It was a night where no one should be loitering out side their house when the sun is no longer shinning.

But hey, it was only like 9.00pm and I was there loitering outside somebody's house with friends and talking craps. I was living in a village kind of area where bushes, farms and rubber estate is just all around. And when night fall, it would be really dark and creepy. Street lamp post are rare and sometimes would be blocked by some huge standing trees which existed there long before I do.

'Wei, ya know, tonight the was most MANG (haunted) night along the year. You all not scare ar?' I started to ask.
Ah B: No need to be scare la. It's modern already now and people dun believe in ghost anymore.
Ah C: Dun say like that ar, sometimes I could heard creepy noise at the back of my house ar, so scary one ar!
Ah B: Sure or not? I just live few blocks from your house and I never heard any creepy thing also.
Me: True also la, there is once I heard a little girl crying at the back of my house. It was midnight then. It freak me up you know.'
Ah D:Wei I heard the pond at the little road behind our village there is very MANG one la. People say they saw a lady-on-white hanging on the trees beside the pond in the evening.

Well, there happen to be a short cut path from our village to Shatin Park. It was just a little road where part of it is not accessible by cars, only a few bicycle and motorbike passes the path during the day. There are casava farm lies on at both side of the road and at one end, there is a small pond some few meters from the road side.
A huge trees positioned itself right next to the pond stretching it's branches wide towards the other end of the pond. Part of the pond was covered by the tree from sunshine making it looks dark and creepy, even in broad daylight.

It was already 11.00pm at the end of our conversation on the ghostly crap. Lots of creepy and scary ghostly tales and rumors has been brought up and some of us really got freak up.

Me: Hey, why don't we go and see if there is ghost at the creepy pond there tonight!
Ah C: Are you nuts?! It's 7/14 midnight and you want to go to the creepy pond there?
Ah B: Hey, good also la, can see if there is really ghost there. C'mmon, there are many of us here. There's nothing to be afraid of.

Being a hot blooded young gun who has no fear for anything, I was a little extreme on seeking new adventures. back then, my nickname have the word 'mad' in front so why not having some 'mad' idea though.

So there it was, 6 of us VS the legendary creepy lady-on-white+hanging-on-tree ghost near the creepy pond. The ponds located about a miles from our village and only partially of the path has street lamp. To make the journey even more thrilling, all of us was on foot walking, nobody would going on wheel. So, if it happen to have ghost chasing after us, it going to be a long-mile-run!

It was nearly midnight and we are all on foot walking towards the casava farms with a handful of torch lights on our hands. The moon was full so it was not entirely dark. We pass through a junkyard, junks and wreckage of old vehicles seems lying dead by the road. There is no single vehicle past through the road at night, it was so quiet, so dark, so scary but we tried to bring up ourself by talking craps. It was no long until we arrive to the last street lamp post. Right in front of us is the path into the casava farm. The road was muddy result from rain in the evening. The casava plants has already grown far above our height and nothing could be seen exept darkness.

As I put my very first step into the farm....
