Honestly, I was very afraid to go to a buffet style dinner at restaurant. Ya know, if the food isn't good, I would felt the money gone wasted. but if the food was great, I would end up going back with a overloaded tummy. Not even ENO could help me then. Since you only pay a fixed price and you could just eat whatever and however much you can, certainly everybody wants to get twice or even trice of what they have paid. Though afraid, I actually like them, hehehe.
Yesterday, I went to a buffet restaurant. This time, it is K-Kai buffet restaurant located at Jalan Lahat, not far away from the Medan Kidd bus station. I bring along my parents and my lil bro Jonath. Well, it is good to have a whole group of people when you are going for a buffet style meal because you could spend some time chatting and eat and then chat and eat more, hehe.
My little boy just can't wait to start the feast and ya know, my son really eat-all-he-can type. But then, he has some minor sick, so can't eat too much.
Their steamboat come with four types of soup base for your selection. There are plain soup, Tom Yam soup, Herbal soup as well as porridge base. You could choose either two of them for your liking.
Now, lets go and grab some stuff to eat. Time is precious and you certainly don't want to miss your favourites stuff to be taken away. Here is some cakes and Nyoanya Kuih. Well, my son loves them.
Ham, Sausage, Pasta, Spaghetti. These certainly won't miss it into the dinner plate.
Fried noodle and curry chicken is kinda like a fixed item in a buffet event. Well, their curry chicken taste pretty well though.
There are also plain porridge if you would like to have some and here is some topping stuff you could put together with your porridge. Yumm...
okay, let move on to the steamboat stuff corner to grab some stuff.
Vegetables, its good for your health and I'm going to grab a whole lots of these. Wait a minute, why I want to do this if it is good for YOUR health and not mine??? geeze.
Seafood consisting of clamps, fish, mantis prawn, scallops and so on. Then there are also meats and fish ball and other various stuff from the freezer.
Sauce of all kinds. There got to be something for everyone.
There is a grilling corner with some professional chef at your service to prepare some delicious grills for you.
Just grab your favourite grill stuff at the steamboat food area and pass to them and they will prepare it for you. I feel that their grill taste really. They can prepare the same food in several different ways such as normal grill, with sauce, baked and so on. Each of them are very well prepared.
Here is a grill chicken with black pepper sauce. Simply delicious.
Or how about this cheese baked scallop. Yumm, scallop on cheese. Its really mouth watering.
Well, there are also this BBQ man standing by all the time to do the best barbecue for you. There are marinated chicken or fish or even get your lamb or beef steak to get it barbecued.
I got myself some BBQ chicken, stingray and sausage. Taste not bad afterall.
By the end of the dinner, one can't miss some refreshment such as fruits and ice-cream. Well, my dad seems to enjoy the ice-cream so much.
Overall, the dinner was great especially the grill. Even my mum praised it and wanted to come again. Everyone took back some good few Kilos back home. Pity my car! You see, I really afraid of buffet ;p
And of course, the price.
It cost only RM16.90 per person during weekdays and RM19.90 on weekends.
note: This is a non halal eatery.

me too sharing the same sentiments lah. afraid of going to buffet anymore, as most buffet spread sucks. big time.
heard much bout this place, and really cheap. but the cooked items looked pathetic. will go for the grilled items, and cheese-baked scallops instead. a plateful of those can justified the amount paid liao.
Returned to your blog after a while and thank you, Ipoh Chai. Now I have somewhere to go for my belated Father's Day celebrations. Your photos are getting better and your descriptive ability for your article has improved tremendously. Your readers are greatly convinced by your writing. Thank you.
wow...i'm ipoh kia too, but don know about this place..price so cheap, look so interesting..i'm not so understand about the map, the place at the way to jelapang there ?
The place is very easy to find. Just go over the flyover after ACS school. Right after the flyover, look out for the driving school practice place on the left and K-Kai is sharing the place with it. TQ for letting us know about this place. I went there on Friday. The price is really cheap and very very worth it. By just having the mussels, scallops and sushi is already worth the price paid. Moreover, there are so many other different things as well.
Yr location plan is out le.confusing medan kid & police station at the wrong place& that's not a roundabout should be a traffic light .Hope u can amend it.no wander zhengyang doesn't get it.
Good meh? I suppose if you are hungry and a glutton.
Hi, their offer of RM 16.90 / person ended already.. Now is RM 19.90 on weekday and eeer.. weekend more expensive.
izit for dinner oni???
Me and my friends went to K Kai about 2 weeks back. Their food standard and variety has dropped and the price has increased to RM19.90 & RM21.90 ( depending on which day u go )..and for seafood lovers..pls note that the scallops are out from the menu !! Very disappointing !!
Went with my family after reading this blog on 23 September. The price is RM21.90 on weekends and public holiday. Normal day is RM19.90. Senior citizen (70 & above) and kids need to pay RM10 only. My family & I feels that it's worthy as there are lots of varieties. Those who havent try yet or those who think they can really eatttttt shd go and try ! I'm looking forward for my next round .........
Just happen to discover your blog when I was searching for a nice place to go for food.. I like your posts especially those about food.. because I'm a FOOD LOVER!! haha.. The informations provided are really benefitial.. I will update myself more about food through your blog. Thanks =)

why i can eat scallop and green mussel at K-Kai, food lover you very shit lah!!!!!!!!!!!
i went there last week back and this is my second time since the first time is on june '09. And this time, the price is incresed aldy and the kids is pricing depends on their high, so all my kids need to paid full payment instead of paying RM10 and my kids is only standard 5,3 and 2 (maybe my kids is taller than the others). So in my case it is not so worthy ,and i really dont know the price is aldy incresed.

your map is correct. i understand where it is. i am former student of ACS which is located near there. nelly is also right. for those who are still not sure, if you are coming from town area, drive past ACS school on your right to head to Menglembu. It is located in the area before Menglembu known as Falim. FYI there is popular laksa shop on the opposite side of the road from K-Kai.
i have been there before, now they have revised the prices. More expensive, don't remember the price liao... but the worse thing is the service... BAD BAD BAD ....food also not fresh... i don't really like there...
by the way, i don't see any scallop and mussels..
i just went there last week and the price is RM 26.90 per head. no scallop and mussels. disappointed.....
i have been there before....the SERVICE IS VERY VERY ~~~BAD...especially the worker attitude....
So expensive for RM26.90 per head at here, I better go to MP Steamboat.
