It’s the fifth day at Korea and we have covered most of the tourist spot on our schedule. Today, it will be a shopping day where we will be brought to several manufacturers and two street shopping spree sessions. It’s a very pack schedule though.
It was a very cold day. The temperature outside is about 0 Celsius and wind tend to blow from time to time adding up the shivering on my body. Looking at the condition, I hope something beautiful would appear, snow.
We were brought to four local product manufacturer in the morning including the Korean Ginseng shop, a local brand cosmetic shop, then the DongChong XiaChao or cordicep shop and finally the Amethyst or purple crystal manufacturer. None of the product actually interests me but wifey bought a small crystal pendant.
Walking along the street on such a cold weather was terrible. As the occasion wind blow over, the cold become more and more unbearable, I’m shivering to death. But somehow, a beautiful sighting appears.
It started to snow!
For all of us coming from a warm country who never see snow, it was something beautiful. But for those local peoples, snowing spells trouble.
But its just a short snow. As the wind stop blowing, the snows also stop drifting over.
It is lunch time and it is time for another steamboat and kimchi again. For today’s steamboat, we have this chicken and rice cakes. Guess I need not to mention about those cold dishes anymore now. The kimchi is making me sick already.
The in afternoon, we went to the Sinchon Woman’s street for shopping. As the name suggest, this is the haven for woman to but their stuff like clothes, hand bag, accessories and so on. Its winter now and all the clothes on sale was winter wear. It would not be useful if I bought these clothes back to our warm country.
After the shopping, we head to the Prime Minister’s residential place for a short walk. The sun was shinning so brightly but then, it is still freezing cold.
Wow, a tree full of persimmon fruits near the prime minister’s resident. Yumm, if I could just pick a few o them, no need to buy it from the market, fresh sumore.
We visited the Deoksugung Palace Museum before we head to Itaewon for the last shopping spree for the day. By the time our shopping at Itaewon ended, its already dark and then comes the dinner.
Shopping street at Itaewon. I could see lots of foreign people in this area. You could find most of the foreign fast food outlet along the street such as Starbucks, Mcdonald, KFC and so on.
Our last dinner at Korea, kamjiaktang or potato and pork bone soup. Well, one way or another it is still steamboat serve with those kimchi thingy again.
Yummy, this is certainly delicious.
As the final event of our trip to Korea, we were treated with a traditional Korean musical show named MISO at ChongDong Theater. Our coach was unable to fetch us to the theater entrance so all of us have to walk about 10 minutes from the main road to the theater. Actually, there is none of a problem walking down the street for a mere several minutes but then, it was dark and -5 degrees C out there. Occasionally, wind blow upon us and the cold were felt right into our bone, its damn cold!
The short distance turns out to be like miles and miles away.
The musical performance showcase the traditional life and culture of Korean. We got to see their colorful traditional costumes, music, dances, games and lifestyle. I don’t have any of these artistic minds within me so I felt the show was somewhat boring. Its not surprised some of the people actually fell asleep along the show.
As the show end, we went straight to our coach going through the torturing cold walk on the street and head back to the hotel. It was a tiring day and that night, I got to pack up everything as on the next morning, we will be leaving Korea and fly towards Shanghai, China.
I could happily say goodbye to those good ole steamboat and kimchi which has been sustaining my life over the past 6 days, lol.
