It's Thaipusam again but I didn't really know when exactly those Hindus devotees would be going out for some parade with their colourful Kavadi's. I was actually attending a dinner at the Pusing Public Restaurant at town when I stumble upon those Kavadi bearers walking along the town streets.
I have my Sony CyberShot on my waist and without wasting any time, I took a few shots before I head to the dinner. It was about 7.30pm in the evening and the streets already full of spectators watching the parade which will be going on till late night.

Its Thaipusam day where devotees fulfill their vows to the Lord Muruga. Thousands of devotees would be flooding every Hindu temple during these few days.

The Kavadi bearer talking a rest on chair which is carry along by his companion. It was a very tough mission to carry the heavy Kavadi for several kilometers towards the temple walking along the hot tarmac road on barefoot. Not only that, there are dozens of steel hook which is hook onto the body of the Kavadi bearer. It's pain everywhere. It took such great determination, courage and strength to complete their vows to the lord.

Each Kavadi have their own team of devotees with drus, trumpets and now even singing some Tamil song on a hailer all along the way. Followers would be dancing along joining the parade.

The Kavadi bearer making a 'Tornado Spin' while the supporters cheering up before carry on with their journey. And I'm also carry on with my dinner at the restaurant lol.
The dinner end at about 10.00pm at night and the parade was still going on at that time. I took another glance on the parade again. It was so much fun indeed.

Geeze, my Point-n-shot compact camera really isn't doing very good for moving object at night. The only way to get a good shot is to go close enough to the object within 10 feet distance and take a shot with flash. Otherwise, it would turn up to be just a blurry piece of shit!

It is more interesting at night where the Kavadi are decorated with blinking flash lights. Very colorful and it's awesome. There will be a truck with electric gen-set to power up the Kavadi.

A devotees with dozens of iron hook under the skin of his back.

Ya know, Ipoh were mainly populated by Chinese followed by Malays and Indian. There aren't much Indian peoples here but the streets were flooded by Indian on Thaipusam. Many of them were for the outskirts of Ipoh city or other valleys which come over here for the annual celebration.
Talking about Chinese, it seems that the streets parade by the Chinese community featuring those lion and dragon dance, Chen Geh and so on was like dying off already. Usually it would be held during the Nine Emperor Festival each year but now, I hardly heard about it anymore. Haiii... the major community in the town don't even have their own anual cultural parade, so malu dissapointed leh.

gosh! it's so long that i haven't been back to Ipoh! Even the slightest sight of Ipoh town makes me homesick now..
i was in ipoh just afew days ago. use ur guide for food hotel. anyway i stayed at Ipoh City Hotel and Casuarina. Ipoh City was half the price of casuarina, but much better in term of location. They even have free wifi and the lounge looks bright and covered parking. Food ? i tried the tim sum at ipoh garden just opposite the old hawker centre. Didn't managed to go Fusan (?). Also lunch at the Shooting club and dinner at.. i don't remember the name. Went clubbing.. one place with the no. 8 on it.. the place quite big but empty, so went over to town centre at one of the club with local malay band singers. it was crowded and they sang well. "Bought Ayam Garam" home and ate at Tambun's duck rice b4 going home. Maybe I will be back again next time..
